more butterfly fans than just me!

Saturday, after we had finished up some homeschool and lunch, the kids went out to play in the yard for a little while.  They were chasing and catching butterflies.

One of the reasons we have lots of butterflies in our yard is because we have all these various kinds of red or red-orange flowering plants in our yard. They are beautiful.

 Anna caught that one!
This butterfly "cage" came from the States with our science curriculum. You might have seen these. You know, the one where you can send in the card that comes with this thing and they will send you some butterfly larva for you to watch as it grows and becomes a butterfly. Well as you can imagine the larva would never make it over here! Maybe it would but it would require lots of footwork on my part... like ordering it at just the right time so a person traveling to visit us could bring it... and on and on... so I brought this thing out after we studied the butterfly life cycle and we have been catching and observing our own!!! Fun, eh?
