Anna wanted a castle cake for her birthday. Can I just be honest and say that this is the first cake I have ever really "decorated"? I mean, sure, I made Miriam a cookie cake for her birthday and "decorated" it but that was a "piece of cake". Sorry for the bad joke! :)
Well I got a friend to come down and show me how to "smooth the cake icing". I know how to bake the cake. I know how to make the icing. But how did my Mom always get the icing to look so.... smooth? :) Well my friend showed me, and I did it! I iced my first cake! It was lots of fun. Yes I am serious. I look forward to making many more cakes in the years to come.
So back to the castle cake part. Well, you know where we live, the cone part/turretts part of the cake was difficult to come up with.... so basically in the end it just looked like a candyland cake but my sweet Anna said "oh..... it looks beautiful!" Only in the eyes of a 5 year old...
